This is such a beautiful space but somehow it feels empty. The sandwiches all say made from scratch but are premade so can't substitute anything. The coffee was delicious and definitely worth getting.

The coffee was strong but good, and very inexpensive. I tried the blueberry pastry and it was tasty. The service was nice and welcoming, and I appreciated that there was plenty of seating. It's laptop-friendly too since it's quiet with lots of tables, making it a perfect spot to get some work done. I had planned to order their breakfast sandwich without bacon, but since it was pre-made they couldn't remove it. They don't have many vegetarian options, but that wouldn't stop me from coming back.

I've been trying to hit all of the big coffee roasters in Chicago and think this is a contender for the best in the city (at least top 4). It's located (fairly) deep into Chicago's southwest side but I think it's worth making an adventure towards. They moved the shop a few blocks closer to the western orange line, which I am pretty sure was already where they roasted their beans. It means they have to work with very little, and on that end I think they've done a great job. The inside is very spacious and there's more than enough seating if you want to dine in. They also use their minimalist aesthetic to really play up the space theme by using an assortment of grays with a few branches that reds make the place pop. Their roasting machine could also be seen through one of their windows. I prefer this layout over a very stuffy interior, but just note that the company is selling itself more on its great food and drink rather than its sit-down atmosphere. I'm not sure if they make their pastries in-house or not. But even if they're imported, kudos for having a good eye for sweets. I've gotten their brownies, almond croissant, and their pistachio-hazelnut danish and all of them have felt fresh and tasted great. No further notes. Their coffee is the best part though. It's a lighter roast that's a little acidic. It is one of the most distinct coffees in the city and worth tasting. The acidic flavor may make it an acquired taste, especially if you prefer your coffee clear (you monster ), but the flavors really work when paired with something else. The coffee really is one of the best latte grounds in the city, and I'd argue the best coffee to have if you like to have something sweet paired with it. Any negatives are mostly negated by the incredible price. You could buy a 16 oz. coffee for only 3 bucks. In comparison, any drip coffee from starbucks of any size will probably not be cheaper than $3.50 (the Starbucks website makes it a little vague so sorry if I'm incorrect). The grounds themselves are cheap too, with the 8oz. Bags being $8 in store and $9 on website.

I’ve been to plenty of local coffee shops around Chicago and Sputnik is the absolute best. I stumbled upon this hidden gem a few years ago on my commute to work when they were on 51st. It’s been my almost daily stop since then. I’ve switched jobs a few months ago and a Sputnik pit stop adds an extra 20 min to my commute but it’s absolutely worth it. I highly recommend a hot oat milk vanilla latte but anything you order will be amazing. They roast their own coffee, make their own flavored syrups, and they’ve done both right. The fresh pastries and growing food options have made Sputnik the best all around coffee shop. If you’re a coffee lover, DO NOT sleep on Sputnik.

I asked the barista for recommendations and she told me to try the Belgian Waffle and the latte. Both tasted very good, but what she didn’t tell me was that the drink had 4 shots of espresso! I got a lot of work done though so I am grateful. Will be returning!

Okay so this place is very unique. I feel like a lot of lattes begin to taste the same or similar because places use the same syrups or similar beans but honestly whatever they are using here it really makes them stand out! It truly took me back because it wasn’t like my average vanilla latte. I loved that it was different and the customer service was amazing! The place was also very clean. I just return to try food and other drinks!!!

Dope little spot, good vibe and great coffee for a reasonable price. I enjoyed the pistachio/hazelnut pastry. Breakfast sandwich was good but a little expensive. I really enjoyed the house made syrups for espresso drink add ons. Drip coffee was a nice price at $2 for a small. Would return.
